Someone had to start putting it all together. It’s been years since we found it all. Over a century since it started. So we’re giving it a shot. Please follow along while this page and it’s story grows and expands, along with our own education of the Marks-Stevenson family history. A collective of stories, notes and images from a long family line of visionary photographers — Robert Wayne Marks, Son of Doreen Louise Marks-Stevenson, Daughter to Daisy Lois Stevenson-Cairnduff, Daughter to Willemina Jean Cairnduff-Middleton.

DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER 1910 —

As far as we can tell, it all starts with Jean Cairnduff and a vacation to Vancouver. That’s when we took notice, turning through the pages of the grand collection. The Grand Opening of the Dominion Trust Building in 1910. A pile of horse shit, just down the street. The first steel frame construction project for a metropolis in it’s infancy. English Bay with a long pier. Clothing out of Monet painting on the beach in the foreground. ‘Snaps by the way.’
